After a missed opportunity to capture a beautiful dinner date moment with his wife, entrepreneur cinematographer, and design expert Edward Madongorere realized that there was a need for a lighting device that would not only enable beautiful, high-quality pictures and videos but also highlight the growing phenomenon of selfies. Selfies and stories are so much more than just a snapshot of our lives. They are about the courage to stand up for who we are and what we believe. MOON was founded with the mission to celebrate Selfie-Esteem. Whenever you feel the urge to snap or share your experiences, MOON will be there to help you capture your genuine selves in the best light!

MOON Selfie, Inc., based in Boston, MA, was founded by Edward Madongorere and Dishen Yang in 2017 after nearly two years of market research and product development. With a combined total of more than 20 years of experience in product design, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution, the MOON Selfie team is passionate and excited to deliver incredible products embodying both high quality form and function.

Leadership

Edward Madongorere | Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder

A jack of many trades, Ed worked in Marketing at Comcast, Developed E-Learning programs and pioneered the video email marketing process at Cisco and was a designer & project manager at Affectiva. As a talented UX/UI design and cinematographer he would found Edemanté Design & Film where he produced stunning ads and content for clients. His work has appeared on CNN, Fox, CBS, MTV, NECN and more. With a magnetic personality and love for people, he encourages others to pursue their dreams and overcome challenges. “Connecting with people, creating new and unforgettable memories is what it’s all about.” MOON was born out a need to connect and share. Edward also sits on the Advisory for Jobiak, risQ and CareOff.

Dishen ‘Dixon’ Yang | Chief Technology Officer & Co-founder

“Dixon Magister”, a nickname name adopted by Dishen to mean “a master of one’s own destiny,” characterizes the nature of his approach to life. From a young age, Dixon has been fascinated by the inner workings of the world and would later discover the beauty in systems and engineering. Having spent much of his teenage years away from a traditional high-school education, the autodidact pursued his passions for building useful things such as custom computer systems or effective piano learning methods. As a lifelong student, he enjoys learning from mentors in person and advanced online courses, and has been volunteering as a TA for the past few years at Harvard University for the course: “How To Make Almost Anything.”

Erica Valcourt | VP of Marketing

Prior to joining MOON, Erica founded Valcourt Media Group, a marketing and branding agency specialising in building and growing brands. She is a marketing executive with over ten years of experience in entertainment, consumer and branding, working for companies such as MTV, Warner Music Group, Monami Entertainment, and Nicki Minaj’s MYX Fusions. Her skills have allowed her to work with industry heavyweights such as Kevin Liles, Chris Lighty and Mona Scott-Young. She has also worked with brands such as Pepsi, Beats By Dre, Vitamin Water, and many more. Erica's ability to identify opportunities, create effective strategies and collaborate in an influencer driven marketing era has led to multi-millions in revenue. She graduated from Hofstra University with a bachelors in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing & Entrepreneurial Studies.

Chelsea Beyerman | Marketing & Influencer Manager

Chelsea Beyerman is a marketing professional with over a decade of experience in the advertising industry, focusing primarily on influencer marketing and creative experiential and OOH media activations. She has been with Moon for nearly two years, MOONLighting as the influencer and marketing go-to, in addition to her fulltime job in influencer activations at RhythmOne. Chelsea is passionate about pushing brands to the forefront of emerging trends and keeping them fresh and exciting. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and three fur babes, enjoys sunshine, margaritas and true crime podcasts.
